Supervisors deny rezoning request for industrial park
The Lafayette County Board of Supervisors on Monday denied a petition to rezone portions of the Lafayette County Max D. Hipp Industrial Park in a 3–1 vote, rejecting a proposal that would have shifted three parcels from heavy industrial to light industrial use.
Our Mission
Shedding light on Lafayette County government
The Booth in the Back serves as a public resource on local zoning and development activities. Its name is a reference to a widely-known practice whereby public officials would hold shadow meetings at local establishments. It came to symbolize the 'good ol' boys club,' and a culture of backroom deals. That legacy still lingers. Our mission is to encourage transparency, accountability, and public participation by publishing and disseminating information, documents, and resources.
Governing Documents
Below are the key county documents that govern the zoning and development process in Lafayette County.
Comprehensive Plan
Public policy document outlining goals and objectives of the county, along with the Zoning Map.
Zoning Ordinance
Regulatory document establishing rules concerning buildings, population density, and land uses.
Land Development
Standards and Regulations
Regulatory document specifying requirements and procedures for different types of development.
